Iran's Parliamentary Speaker Ali Larijani has offered his condolences to the South African government, parliament and nation on the death of the country’s world-famous human rights advocate and former president Nelson Mandela, Iran's state-run news agency Press TV reports.
In a message issued on Friday, Larijani expressed regret over the death of a “great champion of freedom-seeking and the struggle against racism”.
The Iranian speaker also praised Mandela for devoting “his entire life to fight against...racial discrimination and apartheid in an attempt to eradicate and negate this colonialist-era product.”
