Russian and Armenian presidents held negotiations and signed several agreements

Russian and Armenian presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Serzh Sargsyan confirmed their strategic partnership and the ongoing development of bilateral relations. “This visit to Armenia shows the strategic partnership relations between our countries, but it is also a relationship of allies, based on long friendship and the documents signed today,” said Medvedev. The visit sets a new stage in development of Russian-Armenian relations, Sargsyan pointed out. A Protocol on alterations to the 1995 bilateral treaty on the Russian base in Gyumri was signed, prolonging the treaty to 49 years (from 1995). A special intergovernmental treaty on cooperation in nuclear plant building on the territory of Armenia was also signed. The Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation and the Armenian Ministry of Defense signed a memorandum of understanding. Among other bilateral documents, an agreement was signed between the Russian Federal Migration Service and the Armenian Police on cooperation in the struggle with illegal migration.
