Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Iran yesterday. The Foreign Ministry will insist on Iran’s participation in the Geneva-2 Conference for Syria, RIA Novosti reports.
Russia and Iran have many similarities in their approach to the Syrian crisis. Both speak out against violent solutions for the conflict and actions unsanctioned by the UN Security Council.
Lavrov discussed the situation in Afghanistan. Russia praises Iran for active cooperation in Afghanistan, its efforts in combating drug trafficking, terrorism.
