The US government has blocked the export of cameras and laser pointers for the Karayel drone of Turkey, developed by Vestel.
The Turkish military hired Vestel to develop drones in 2011 to start mass production in 2014. The drones were to carry equipment of WestCAM Solutions. The US government gave no permission to export the tools. Predator drones the US sold to Turkey were also banned.
The government’s decision is motivated by Turkey’s plans to purchase Chinese anti-missile defenses, experts say.
