Today Turkish EU Affairs Minister Egemen Bağış said that Turkey's accession to the EU is interfered with by stereotypes about the country.
"One of the problems Ankara faces is lack of awareness on the part of the EU about Turkey, and this barrier must be overcome", Trend quotes the minister.
He also noted that the forthcoming signing of an agreement on the abolition of visas for Turkish citizens can be considered as a major step in the negotiations between Turkey and the EU.
Earlier, Bağış said that Turkish citizens in the coming years will be able to travel to Europe without a visa.
