Iran demands Russia fulfill S-300 missile contract

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Russia must fulfill the contract on the shipment of S-300 missiles, RIA Novosti reports.

The minister added that the negotiations will continue with between high-ranking authorities of both states.

The contract on sale of S-300 missile systems to Iran was signed in late 2007. Russia halted the realization of the contract in 2010 due to UN sanctions, which prohibit sales of modern weapons to Iran. As a response, Iran filed a $4-billion lawsuit to the International Court of Arbitration in Geneva against Rosoboronexport.
