France has started studying the extradition request for Mukhtar Ablyazov, ex-Head of the BTA Bank (Kazakhstan), today, RIA Novosti reports.
The request was to be considered in Aix-en-Provence in September. The talks were postponed to December 3. Russia will consider a similar request on December 12.
Ablyazov has already requested release on bail twice. Both were given a negative response from the court.
Ablyazov was detained on French Riviera on July 31. Three states demand his extradition. Kazakhstan has no extradition agreement with France. Russia has certain limitations to extradition terms. Ukraine has the best chances to have Ablyazov extradited.
