Georgia hopes for confederation with Azerbaijan

Establishment of a Georgian-Azerbaijani confederation would improve regional security, Georgian deputy foreign minister Nino Kalandadze said at a government session, Trend reports.
Kalandadze said that at the current stage the sides are discussing legal aspects of the issue, adding that the confederation would help development of the region and improve economic ties. On the possibility of a visit by Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev to Georgia, his Georgian counterpart Mikhail Saakashvili said that the issue is being considered by the two countries.
