Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagis, Interior Minister Muammer Guler and EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malstrom have attended the ceremony of the signing of the Turkish-EU readmission agreement, a document obliging Turkey to deport illegal migrants.
The sides signed an agreement to simplify and speed up the procedure of Schengen visa-issuing.Erdogan said that the EU and Turkey will cooperate actively in the next 3.5 years. Malstrom noted that the positive effect of the documents signed will be seen in the near future.
Hassan Selim Ozertem, an analyst of USAK, said that Turkey was doing a lot to form a visa-free regime with the EU. Turkey realized reforms for readmission, adjusted passports to meet international standards. Ozertem believes that the 3.5 years the states will need to wait for the agreement to come into force was set as a probation period.
