Azerbaijan and US extend military cooperation deal

Yesterday, Ziyafet Askerov, head of the Azerbaijani parliamentary committee for security and defense, gave information about bills on approval of the USA-AZE-02 agreement, on mutual services and purchase of equipment between the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry and the US Defense Department and on amendments to the Azerbaijani Garrison and Patrol Duty, passed by law N886 of September 23, 1994, Trend reports.The Azerbaijani-US agreement was approved in 2003 to simplify technical cooperation. The document expires this month. It has been extended by 5 years.MPs said at the session that the second bill was related to the law on rights and freedom of convicts. Both bills were recommended for discussion at a plenary session of the parliament.
