Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the successful implementation of the agreements reached between the six international mediators and Iran on its nuclear program have an impact on U.S. plans to deploy a missile defense system in Europe.
"We believe that the full implementation of the agreements which were formulated in Geneva (on the Iranian nuclear program) which still need to be implemented and there are all the conditions to finish the implementation in one year, eliminates the reason given as justification for the creation of the European segment of the global missile defense of the United States," RIA Novosti quotes Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying at a press conference after talks with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski.
Also, Lavrov said that the missile defense system "poses risks to global stability, including the Russian nuclear deterrent forces."
