Russia's jailed oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who was officially pardoned by President Vladimir Putin today, has left for Germany, the Rusian authorities are quoted as saying.
According to the statement, Khodorkovsky is going to Berlin in order to support his mother, who is struggling with cancer. At the same time, it has been established that Marina Khodorkovskaya is in the suburbs of Moscow at the moment. Khodorkovsky hasn't contacted his family yet, she is quoted as saying by the Russian media.
The former tycoon will probably head to Switzerland after arriving in Germany, Der Spiegel reports. The German Foreign Ministry refuses to make an official statement concerning Khodorkovsky's whereabouts.
