Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council today that the Eurasian Economic Union should not be politicized and should only be an economic issue, RIA Novosti reports.
Nazarbayev clarified that protection of borders, migration policy, defenses and security, healthcare, education, culture, legal assistance for citizens, administrative and criminal problems were not economic issues. He added that the said fields of cooperation had already been settle in multilateral agreements within the framework of the CIS and the CSTO and bilateral agreements of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh leader spoke out against granting the Supreme Council of heads of states and governments supranational authority. Such authority belongs to the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Nazarbayev said that the road map for Armenia had been approved and needed adoption. He reminded that the problem of the border of the Customs Union was still questionable in the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh territorial dispute.
