The Federation Council of Russia has ratified the agreement on temporary residency of Tajik migrants (signed on February 8, 2013), RIA Novosti reports.
The migrants will no longer need to register within 15 days after arrival. Foreigners temporarily present in Russia need to register within 7 days after arrival.
According to December 18 data, about 1.3 million Tajik citizens have entered the country since the start of 2013. Their number exceeds that of 2012 by 15%. About 900,000 of them have registered as migrants.
Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are the main source of migrants in Russia. Tajikistan is the second, after Uzbekistan, in terms of the number of migrants working in Russia.
