Russia's Federation Council rejects bill on compulsory exams for migrants

The Federation Council (the upper chamber of the Russian Parliament) today rejected a bill establishing obligatory Russian history, language and law exams for migrants arriving in the country.

The bill was previously approved by the State Duma.

According to the Speaker of the Federation Council, the draft law is legally incorrect, even though the idea is good.
