Islam Atiyev, a member of the Doku Umarov rebel group, was killed today in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan. A 23-year-old militant was killed as he attempted to leave a besieged house.
Atiyev joined the rebel group in 2008. According to the National Anti-Terror Committee, he made several attempts on the lives of police officers.
