Analyst Sarikaya explains causes of Turkish political scandal

Muharrem Sarikaya, a Turkish analyst, said that the scandal that started in Turkey two weeks ago was related to the protests around Gezi Park. The Turkish government had not given a proper reaction to the events around Gezi and the problem had escalated, the expert explained.

Commenting on the new Turkish government, Sarikaya noted that the prime minister and the president could appoint new ministers but PM Erdogan's appointments were a surprise to everyone, including President Abdullah Gul. The new government had a negative effect on political and economic stability, as reflected in the market indicators.

The analyst noted that Erdogan was struggling with people he had worked with for 25 years, for example, Idris Naim Shahin and Erdogan Bayraktar. The same problem concerns law enforcers.

The expert predicts that the events will change the political course of the country after the municipal elections of March 30.
