The Russian language will be included in the Syrian school curriculum as a second foreign language, the country's Minister of Education Hazvan al-Uazz said.

"The Ministry has finished all the necessary preparations to begin teaching the Russian language in the next academic year,"  RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

The Syrian pupils will choose between Russian and French as the second foreign language. The first foreign language in schools in Syria is English.
