The Turkish Interior Ministry has dismissed the heads of police departments in 16 provinces, including Izmir, Antalya and Diyarbakir. RIA Novosti reports.
350 police officers, including heads of departments, were dismissed yesterday as part of the corruption scandal of December 17. The ministry dismissed heads of departments for prevention of financial violations, control of smuggling and organized crime.
Dozens of people were detained in Turkey on December 17. Three members of the government resigned because their sons were involved in frauds and bribes. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan appointed 10 new ministers a week after the detentions started.
