Russia introduces Olympic ban on liquids in plane hand luggage

Russian Transportation Minister Maksim Sokolov sent telegrams to the Federal Air Transportation Agency and the Federal Transportation Inspection Service demanding additional security measures to be taken in transportation facilities, ITAR-TASS reports.The document demands a ban for liquids carried in hand luggage from January 11. Even volumes of less than 100ml of liquid will be banned. The measures will not affect products purchased at Duty Free.The telegram emphasizes that the new rules will be applied due to the 22nd Olympic and 11th Paralympic Games organized to be held in Sochi. Medicines  will still be permitted after identification by security officers.
