Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze, Chief of the Georgian General Staff, and Irakly Gegechkori, Deputy Defense Minister, visited Afghanistan, Georgia Online reports.
Kapanadze met his Afghan counterpart General Sherom Muhammad Karimi and discussed the development of bilateral relations after the withdrawal of the ISAF and the training of Afghan soldiers in Georgian military centers.
Karimi thanked Georgia for enforcing security in the Helmand Province and expressed hope that Georgian efforts would help take security under full control of Afghan forces.
Kapanadze and Gegechkori visited the Camp Phoenix where Georgian troops serve.
