Putin honors Russian minister for sports

Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko with the Order for Merit to the Fatherland for preparations of the 27th World Summer Universiade in Kazan, RIA Novosti reports.Russian students won 155 gold medals in Kazan, compared with China’s 75 gold medals won in Shenzhen in 2011. Russia won 75 silver and 62 bronze medals.Kazan will host the World Aquatics Championship in 2015. Mutko heads the organizing committee of the upcoming games.
