Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Damascus this morning, RIA Novosti reports.
The US says that Iran may play the decisive role in settling the Syrian crisis and request Damascus to stop bombings and open the humanitarian corridor.
Iran wants to attend the Geneva-2 Conference on January 22 without pre-conditions. US Secretary of State John Kerry said that Iran could attend it only as an informal participant because it had not accepted the agreements reached at the Geneva-1 Conference in 2012.
