Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Mohammad Javad Zarif have started talks in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Lavrov, the ministers will discuss regional problems, a settlement of the Syrian crisis and other conflicts in the Middle East, North Africa and Afghanistan.
Zarif noted that Moscow was playing a key role in settlement of the Iranian nuclear program. He added that both Russia and Iran were facing extremism. The Iranian minister expressed condolences for the Volgograd blasts.
He emphasized that Russia played an important part in preventing war in Syria. Zarif expressed confidence that the role of Russia in organizing the Geneva-2 Conference will be fundamental.
