Iran’s participation in Geneva-2 Conference remains unsettled

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said in Kuwait that less than a week was left before the Geneva-2 Conference but its participants had not decided on whether Iran should be allowed to participate or not, RIA Novosti reports.The UN head discussed the problem with Russia and the US but differences remain. He noted that as soon as a transitional structure is formed in Syria, the assistance and cooperation of Iran will be necessary.Iran strives to attend the conference without pre-conditions. US Secretary of State John Kerry said that Iran could only take part as an informal participant because it had not recognized the agreements reached at the Geneva-1 Conference in 2012.
