The head of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Ahmet Üzümcü, said in Rome today that the process of transporting Syria's chemical arsenal out of the country is too slow and does not meet the schedule.
Üzümcü explaind this was due to problems with the Syrian security. "We hope that we can make the process of removal relatively faster in the coming weeks," he promised, adding that the total amount of chemicals delivered to the Syrian port of Latakia is still too small to be able to meet the deadline set for Syria by world community for the destruction of chemical weapons.
