Syrian delegation to Geneva -2 will be headed by the Foreign Minister

UN spokesman Farhan Haq confirmed that the Syrian government's delegation at the Geneva-2 peace conference will be headed by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem.

"Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem will lead a delegation (of the Syrian government)," Haq is quoted by RIA Novosti. This was previously reported by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov.

Today, at a meeting in Moscow, Muallem discussed the preparations for Geneva-2 with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Geneva-2 is scheduled for January 22 in Montreux, Switzerland. Russia and the U.S. have been coordinating efforts organizing Geneva -2 for many months, aiming to ensure the presence of the representatives of various political forces of Syria at the conference.
