The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces will decide whether to attend the Geneva-2 Conference or not at a meeting in Istanbul today, Interfax reports.
The organization discussed the issue on January 5-6, when Ahmad Jarba was re-elected as its President and Badr Jamous as the Secretary General. The problem caused a schism in the National Coalition, over 40 of its members left the organization.
The opposition insists that it will only attend Geneva-2 on condition of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s resignation and formation of a transitional government. The organization demands humanitarian corridors to be opened, political prisoners released and siege of Syrian cities stopped.
