Russian Mi-24P, Mi-8MT and Mi-8SMV helicopters formed a squadron of Armenian aviation at the Erebuni Airfield in the Southern Military District of Russia, RIA Novosti reports.
A squadron of MiG-29s used to secure the area within the framework of the CIS missile shield. The squadron will now provide air support and assist in transportation of troops of the Russian military base in Armenia. Pilots are currently making flights in Rostov-on-Don.
Transportation of helicopters to Armenia will start in 2014.
