Alexander Khloponin, Russian Vice Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the NCFD, said that turning down direct voting for heads of regions was a good decision, Yuga.ru reports.
He believes that heads of regions should be appointed and should have more authority. Khloponin reminded that he had been the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law on April 2, 2013, that allows regions to choose the way their leaders will be elected: via direct vote or by parliament.
