Ukraine will not manage to pursue Georgia to return to the Commonwealth of Independent State (CIS), member of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Russian History Institute Andrey Marchuk and another expert Andrey Petrov say.
According to Marchukov, even though a new political force is ruling Georgia the country's course remains pro-Western. Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukopvych's statement concerning Georgia is nothing but a political move aimed to show his committment to intergration with other post-Soviet countries.
Petrov stresses that Georgia's rejoining CIS will be possible only, if the country restores all ties with Russia. The expert also notes that Georgia is now developing quite successfully without being a part of the CIS.
