Montreux is hosting the Geneva-2 Conference to find a solution to the Syrian conflict. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem’s speech at the conference was interrupted by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon twice every time he started accusing the West of aggravating the conflict.
Ban said that both sides of the conflict had violated humanitarian law.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that the inter-Syrian talks would neither be easy nor fast. He said that there were people interested in ruining the conference. Lavrov pointed out that any recipe of political reforms only served to slow the modernization process down.
US Secretary of State John Kerry said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad could not be included in the transitional government of Syria.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu accused Russia and Iran of finding excused to bleach the Syrian regime. He expressed hope that the 55,000 photos of crimes done by the Syrian military would convince Russia and Iran to change their mind.
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said that the Wahhabis were trying to push the country back and were sponsored by foreign states. He thanked Russia, Iran, Iraq, BRICS for enforcing the fundamental principles of sovereignty of the UN Charter.
Ahmad Jarba, Head of the Syrian National Coalition, accused Muallem, Assad and the government of Syria as a whole of forcing opposition to fight. He promised to put all efforts into fighting 'terrorists' and mercenaries.
