Armenian defense minister Seyran Oganyan does not exonerate the defense ministry from responsibility for the incident in the Armenian army, he said at the youth rally ‘Baze’ (Falcon). On August 17th a 26-year-old serviceman shot dead his brother-in-arms, 27-year-old Lieutenant Artak Nazaryan. Both men were serving near the village of Chinari in the Tavush region on the border with Azerbaijan. At the incident on July 28th Senior Lieutenant Vardkes Tadevosyan and soldiers Garegin Ovsepyan, Andranik Sarkisyan, Robert Ovannisyan, Artem Manasyan and Karo Ayvazyan died because of violation of military service rules, News Armenia reports.
Oganyan emphasized that it was right for society to criticize. He said that military life is led according to certain regimes, military codes and limitations, which make it easier to maintain order. The minister said that the incidents happened because, at some bases, servicemen do not follow the rules with full responsibility. The command staff lost control over the situation while ‘pseudo-authorities’ tried to lead the military base along a false path.
