Syrian authorities and opposition hold direct talks in Geneva

Representatives of the Assad regime and the rebels started direct talks with each other in Geneva today, a source close to the government's delegation is quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

The talks are being held in the presence of UN and Arab League's Envoy Lahdar Brahimi.
