Ukrainian protesters take over Justice Ministry

Protesters in Ukraine took over the Justice Ministry in Kiev at 10.38 pm yesterday, ITAR-TASS reports.

About 50 young people armed with wooden sticks and metal bars broke into the ministry and refuse to leave. They said that the building was occupied to warm themselves. The Common Cause Movement stated on Facebook that it was responsible for occupying the building.

The Ministry for Agrarian Policy and Food and the Ministry for Energy and Coal Industry were occupied on December 24.

UDAR leader Vitaly Klitschko failed to persuade the protesters to leave the Justice Ministry. Justice Minister Yelena Lukash demanded them to leave. The building was occupied when the ministry was working on amendments to the Constitution to restore the Constitution of 2004. Lukash noted that she will have to address the Council for National Security and Defense to declare state of emergency.
