Georgian PM ready for direct talks with Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili says his government is ready for direct talks with the breakaway republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the head of the Georgian cabinet writes in his article published by Russia in Global Affairs.

According to Garibashvili, Georgia is ready to cooperate with the semi-recognized republics in the humanitarian sphere.

The Georgian prime minister notes however that Georgia will never recognize Abkhazia's and South Ossetia's independence. "We are in a very difficult position," the minister is quoted as saying by News-Georgia. "Russia is not going to repeal its recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, while Georgia will never agree to such a state of affairs."
