Russian Security Council discusses Syria and Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has chaired an operative session of the National Security Council, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said, RIA Novosti reports.

The session focused on the Syrian peace process and the situation in Ukraine. Attendants of the Council exchanged views within the context of Putin’s upcoming international top-level contacts and the opening of the Sochi Olympic Games.

The session was participated by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, Head of the Presidential Administration Sergey Ivanov, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and his deputy Rashid Nurgaliyev, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, FSB Chief Alexander Bortnikov, Foreign Intelligence Chief Mikhail Fradkov, permanent member of the Security Council Boris Gryzlov.
