Turkmenistan unhappy with Tajik-Afghan railway deal

Turkmenistan is unhappy with the Afghan railway route Tajikistan and Afghanistan chose without consulting Ashkhabad, News Azerbaijan reports.

Amonullo Khukumatullo, Head of the Tajik Railway, said on January 29, 2014, that Dushanbe and Kabul signed an agreement on the final route of the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway, according to RIA Novosti.

Ashkhabad reminded that multilateral agreements require mutual respect and equality. Turkmenistan views Khukumatullo’s statement as an unacceptable act.
