Russian Minister for Emergencies Vladimir Puchkov said that the situation on the roads in Russia's South was under control, RIA Novosti reports.
He clarified that additional road patrols and mobile repair brigades were formed and warming posts opened to help drivers in the cold weather.
The minister added that space monitoring was used for the first time to watch roads. Local authorities will use information from satellites to take measures.
