Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin told the expanded board of Moscow prosecutors that the clear-up rate of grave crimes committed by migrants increased by 10-20% in Moscow, ITAR-TASS reports.
He emphasized that criminal cases were initiated against organizers of illegal migration for the first time. About 1,000 such cases were initiated.
The mayor reminded that citizens entering Russia via the visa-free regime will be allowed to stay for a maximum of three months per half a year, according to the new migration laws.
Sobyanin thanked prosecutors, the Federal Migration Service and the police for efficient work. The city will continue combating illegal markets and restoring order, the mayor promised.
