Azerbaijan plans to open an embassy in Iraq

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov said today in Baghdad that Azerbaijan will soon open an embassy in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and provide support in the fight against terrorism.

"Baku aims at cooperation with Baghdad and wants to share information to combat terrorism, which threatens the entire region," the diplomat said at a meeting with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, ITAR -TASS quotes him.

Mamedyarov assured the Iraqi side that the Azerbaijani parliament has agreed to open a diplomatic mission in Iraq, as the Azerbaijani companies want to work in Iraq and invest in this country, particularly in the energy sector.
