Alexey Pushkov, Head of the committee for international affairs of the lower house of the Russian parliament, said that Russia should follow the EU example of protecting history by law, Interfax reports.
He noted that there were many people abroad and even in Russia who wanted to falsify history.
Pushkov’s statement was made in the context of amendments Latvia has recently discussed. According to the amendments, denial of Soviet and Nazi occupation will considered a crime. The Russian legislator said that the Latvian bill was developed as a tool against Russia.
