Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said at the government hour at the lower house of the Russian parliament that mass media should not name nationalities of criminals, RIA Novosti reports.
The same idea has been discussed in the country for quite a while, though no related laws have been adopted. Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the initiative in December 2012. He emphasized that a criminal’s ethnic background had no importance.
Putin outlined that what mattered is the principle of inevitability of punishment and justice.
