Azerbaijani-EU readmission agreement no plus for Baku - expert

Azerbaijan and the EU have signed the readmission agreement at the Council of the European Union this week. Rovshan Ibragimov, a political analyst, noted that the document was signed simultaneously with simplification of the visa regime to prevent uncontrollable entrance of citizens of other states in Europe. Baku will now pay for deportation of its illegal migrants in Europe.

Ibragimov mentioned Turkey as an example. Turkey has a similar deal with the US. Anyone willing to visit America from Turkey needs to name the purpose of visit and confirm the right to go there.

The expert sees no benefit in the system for Azerbaijan and believes that it is more of a burden. He emphasized that the document should be studied in the context of the document simplifying the visa regime signed at the summit of the Eastern Partnership and ratified a week after.
