Georgia to double sentences for illegal spying

Georgia plans to pass amendments to the Criminal Code to extend punishment for illegal spying on other people’s lives from 3 to 7 years of prison, according to Interior Minister Alexander Chikadze, Georgia Online reports.

He noted that there had been numerous case of illegal spying on people personal and intimate lives. The minister explained that any person who acquired such records will not be punished if all the materials get handed to the police.

Chikadze added that the amendments will be passed to the parliament for discussions in the near future. He promised that the ministry will give more details about the legislative initiative today.
