Presidential envoy to North Caucasus may resign

According to Russian media, Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District Alexander Khloponin may resign over the unsuccessful development of the region. Vestnik Kavkaza discussed the issue with Professor of the Moscow State University for Linguistics Alan Kasayev.

According to the scholar, it is no surprise that the presidential envoy may be forced to resign. In fact, it's surprising that he managed to remain in office for so long, Kasayev believes. Alexander Khloponin heads a very troublesome region, which constantly stirs public attention, the expert stresses.

It's also clear that Khloponin's leadership did not bring peace, stability or well-being to the region, Kasayev notes.
