Talks between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Transneft concerning possible deliveries of Azerbaijani oil through Russian territory have recently been resumed.
According to Yury Glushkov, the fact is not surprising. The expert believes that the talks have probably been resumed due to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's trip to Russia and meetings held in the framework of his visit.
The whole issue has a strong political undertone, the expert says. In addition to this, the Russian company is probably not ready to start reverse deliveries via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, he believes.
