A day after the mass amnesty of detained protesters violence returned to the streets of Kyiv. According to opposition sources, at least three people were killed in clashes with police forces as protesters decided to march on the parliament. Protesters managed to capture the headquarters of the ruling Party of Regions, but it was soon freed by the police.
According to Ukrainian analyst Igor Gridasov, it is not surprising that the march resulted in violence. The opposition was interested in the march, as the parliament is soon going to the discuss constituational reform and additional pressure would only strengthen the position of President Yanukovych's opponents. However, the opposition leaders do not control the protesters and cannot force them to refrain from violence.
In such a situation it's quite clear why the clashes resumed, the expert says.
