Euromaidan: authorities are leaving buildings, the party and the presidentRiots and violent clashes have been ongoing in Ukraine for quite some time.Today several important political events took place in Kiev: theVerkhovna Rada and the government were evacuated from their headquarters, a senior government official withdrew from the ruling party, a regional council issued a vote of no confidence in the Ukrainian president and the Russian Consulate General was attacked in one of the cities.As reported earlier by VK, by 11 a.m. the legislative and executiveauthorities of Ukraine were evacuated from the center of Kiev. Later Mayor Vladimir Makeyenko resigned from the ruling Party of Regions. Then the news that the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council had proclaimed the president of Ukraine to be illegitimate arrived, as well as an attempt to storm the Consulate General of Russia in Lvov. Ukrainian political analyst Alexei Voronenko comments on the events for VK.Voronenko believes that the decision of the Ivano-Frankivsk RegionalCouncil is not such an important event, since it does not have anypolitical influence. He stressed that burning records of arrests andconvictions as well as the lynching of authorities which took place yesterday will have a much bigger political impact on the country.Regarding the resignation of Vladimir Makeyenko from the party, the expert believes that the mayor did not have a chance. He also stressed that it does not mean that the mayor is in opposition to the currentauthorities.The analyst said that the attack on the Russian Consulate in Lvov was the result of actions of European politicians who had encouraged, in particular, the dismantling of a monument to Lenin and who facilitate the radicalization of protests. "By the way, the embassy of Great Britain and Canada was evacuated today from Kiev. Why?
