The UK announced restoration of diplomatic relations with Iran at a charge d’affaires level, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi, state flags were raised over UK and Iranian diplomatic missions.
The British Embassy in Tehran was attacked by people protesting against anti-Iranian sanctions in 2011. Iran closed its Embassy in London soon after that. The Swedish Embassy represented interests of the two states.
